Ballot Success

Dunnichen Community Company has been set up to buy the former Church of Scotland building at Dunnichen for use by the local community. This has entailed a lot of work adhering to government regulations. The latest achievement was tonight when the results of the postal ballot were announced. Result of ballot count held in Letham Angus on Monday 25 th June 2012, at 7 pm, and conducted by independent assessors. Number of ballot papers returned 222, Yes votes 208, No votes 12, Spoilt papers 2.
Many thanks to all who went to the trouble of returning their papers. 23 ballot papers have been received late. All are yes votes.

The Objectives of Dunnichen Community Company

The objects of the company are - To acquire Dunnichen Parish Church in the County of Angus together with the fixtures and fittings, from the General Trustees for the Church of Scotland. To manage community land and associated assets for the benefit of the Community and the public in general. To provide or assist in providing, recreational facilities, and/ or organising recreational activities which will be available to members of the Community and public at large with the object of improving the conditions of life of the community. To advance the education of the Community about its environment, culture, heritage and/ or history. To advance environmental protection or improvement including preservation, sustainable development and conservation of the natural environment, the maintenance, improvement or provision of environmental amenities for the Community and/ or the preservation of buildings or sites of architectural, historic or other importance to the community.
